Challenge

A foundation with a large newsletter audience needed every subscriber to choose what they want to receive — straight from the email itself, with no accounts, no passwords and no support tickets. The mailing platform is the single source of truth for subscribers and interests, so preferences had to stay in sync there in real time.

Solution

A lightweight Express application that turns a personalized link into a full preference center. The link carries a per-subscriber identifier, so no login is needed; the server verifies it, pulls the subscriber’s interests and categories from the Mailchimp Marketing API, renders the page in the subscriber’s language, and writes every change back the moment it is saved. The platform credentials never leave the server.

Mailchimp Marketing API Lists · interest categories · members
  1. Open. The personalized link identifies the subscriber — no login, no passwords.
  2. Read. The server pulls the subscriber’s interests and categories from the API.
  3. Render. The page is built in the subscriber’s language.
  4. Save. Every change is written back through the API the moment it is made.
  5. Isolation. The browser never talks to the mailing platform — the server handles every request.
Every request is handled by the server — the browser never touches the mailing platform.
